Following another bizarre rant by President Trump, he lamented blame and scorn upon China for yet more imaginary slights.
Adding that he might refuse to meet Xi Jinping in a planned meeting. The US stock market immediately tumbled after this statement. The S&P 500 dropped 2.71 percent, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average dipped about 878 points and the NASDAQ Composite slid 3.58 percent.
A week later, Trump back-pedalled completely from this statement, admitting that a 100% tariff on China was unworkable and he would meet Xi Jinping in two weeks. The stock market recovered on this news, making it clear that Trump’s actions were another action of illegal market manipulation in order to make billions of dollars in bets. An anonymous trader made a new account and reportedly made $88 million by shorting Bitcoin just 30 minutes before Trump’s surprise tariff announcement against China.
Donald Trump has longed used China as a country to blame for America’s “downfall” in order to sell his “Make America Great Again” slogan, a slogan taken from Nazi Germany’s “Make Germany Great Again”.
In his first disastrous term as president from 2016, he spent much of his presidency blaming China for many issues, sparking a trade war during that time also.
Now in his second term, he is back again to blaming China for everything under the sun. His usual tactic is to blame China, and threaten them with some extreme policy, such as tariffs; a few days later he pulls back from his previous comments and does a 180 in terms of what he is proposing. This back and forth, almost gaslighting of China and the world, in the world stage has fooled no one who holds any intelligence.
Tensions flared in April earlier this year, when Trump went back and forth with China, throwing out escalating tariffs threats like a toddler having a meltdown.
But the reality is that Trump simply doesn’t have the cards to punish China in the modern era of globalism; any punishment of China, comes back and hurts America even worse because of how closely the two economies are tied.
Tariffs, seemingly Trump’s idiotic solution to every economic issue, damage American consumers far more than they can damage Chinese society.
In this respect, Tariffs are more a weapon to control Americans and to make illegal money betting on markets going up and down, than they are to punish China. By lowering federal taxes and instead charging tariffs, Trump takes significant control from congress over large amounts of funding. He can then use this money to threaten and beguile various institutions and corporations to follow his orders. This is yet another illegal act from a president desperate to gather more power in order to avoid the consequences of his many crimes.
A US China trade war benefits no decent citizens anywhere in the world, it only benefits Trump and his sycophants, who use this turmoil to play the markets to the tune of their dance, whilst they make stock market bets and under the table deals.
We’re not even a year into Trump’s disastrous second term and the USD has already lost 10% of its value. The American stock market is fully held up only by a few companies currently experiencing a large bubble in AI speculation, once that bubble pops, the resulting economic meltdown will start to truly be witnessed.
China and Europe can clearly see the writing on the wall, and are doing everything they can to divest from America to prevent such a disaster spreading to their domains. Nevertheless, the global economy is so linked up, that it’s impossible to truly avoid the damage that will come from the continued failures of the US administration.
