Douban rating: 7.8

Director: Pierre Perifel

Douban Comments: “Much better than the first one. Tighter, louder, with bigger scenes and richer visuals. The spectacle is even more dazzling. I thought they might redeem the villain somehow, but they didn’t, which I really liked. The ending shows the creators’ ambition. It’s clear they want to grow this IP into something big, like an animated Mission: Impossible. Really looking forward to part three!”

“Thanks to this movie, I got over a hundred minutes of pure relaxation and joy. It’s a very well-structured genre film, but more exciting than the first one, with some fresh highlights, like the all-female villain team. The Leopardess completely stunned me when she appeared: broad shoulders, slim waist, smooth toned muscles, that perfect balance of power and agility.

Movies do reflect their times. Back then, female characters in these stories, whether hero or villain, often felt like mere eye candy, usually waiting for the hero to save them. But now, even in a family-friendly animated film like this, every female character feels more fully developed and radiates strength: the morally gray Fox, the ambitious Leopardess, the strongwoman Pig who’s also a criminology buff, the hacker genius Spider-girl (love this one, so many works make the tech expert a man, even though there are plenty of brilliant women in tech), and the sharp-tongued, ruthless Crow. Each one breaks out of old stereotypes, and each one feels alive. Just for that alone, I’d recommend this movie.”

The Bad Guys 2 2

“The character traits that stood out most in the first film are further strengthened in the sequel, and the interactions between the main team and the new characters are fun and complementary. Also, Wolf and Fox, what a great pairing. Thematically, this one is more complex and mature than the first. If the last movie was about proving that ‘bad guys can turn good’, this one asks the deeper question: why should they turn good? If the shadows of the past are always there, why still choose to live in the light? This theme ties directly into the Wolf–Fox relationship, and with the support of another emotional subplot, the film gives a solid answer. As for the story itself, it’s bigger and more spectacular than expected. Definitely worth the ticket.”

“Light-hearted, funny, and a total joy. I picked an afternoon screening and was surprised to find it nearly packed. Surrounded by laughter, I had a thoroughly enjoyable hundred-plus minutes. Though this IP is still relatively young, the first film was a bit of a dark horse back then, and this sequel takes things up a notch with grander set pieces and a tighter story.

When the Bad Guys face off against the ‘Bad Girls’, the stage literally shifts to outer space, with dazzling visuals and wildly imaginative ideas. Thematically, it dives deeper into the complexity of its characters, showing that good and evil aren’t simply black and white. It breaks stereotypes while still keeping the humor and entertainment flowing. I especially loved Shark’s flustered little fins during his panic attacks, Snake’s washboard abs, Piranha’s butt-attack, and of course, the perfect Wolf–Fox chemistry. The frequent bursts of laughter in the theater said it all. And the ending shows the franchise’s bigger ambitions. I’m already excited to see the Bad Agents save the world again.”

“It doesn’t have the wow factor of the first movie. The details aren’t as good, and it’s turned into just an ordinary adventure comedy. The villain’s muscles are really impressive though. I actually wanted to see her and Diane fight from start to finish.”

“This is pure joy on screen; a film that keeps your eyes glued from start to finish. Easily the most cheerful, fun, hilarious, and family-friendly movie of the summer. Its thrill comes from the irresistibly human-like charm of the characters, with the classic Bad Guys team all back, now joined by the fresh and exciting ‘Bad Girls’. The thrill also comes from its stunning action set pieces. I never imagined the best action scenes I’d see this year would come from an animated film. The space-mining sequence is simply jaw-dropping in both concept and visuals. On top of that, the film has real depth: the clash between ‘bad’ and ‘good’, the search for identity, and the pull of universal emotions, all wrapped up with irresistible hints of romance. The team spirit of the Bad Guys brings both laughter and tears, while the Wolf–Fox and Snake–Crow pairings make your heart race. A must-watch this summer!”
